Gun People
My wife Stephanie and I were
headed to Thunder Ranch for our
second rifle course in late August when
we received a call my father, Keith,
had just passed to the next life. It was
sudden and unexpected — no heath
problems, but he was just gone. I called
Heidi and Clint Smith and explained
the situation and they said no problem.
They extended great compassion and
words of wisdom trying to console us
in our time of need. They also told us
to pick a class in the future and they
would just transfer everything. What
great people and they are exactly what
I’ve come to know gun people as. Clint
and Heidi Smith are first-rate people
and wonderful friends.
My Father is the man who made
my brother Kevin and me into the men
we are today. He was a handgunner
from the word go, and loved to hunt
and shoot. He was the epitome of the
“Retro Guy.” I keep a laminated copy
of the “Retro Guy Code” from your
magazine on my desk. He was a patriot,
a good Christian and a man who cared
deeply for his family, his country and
his fellow man. I believe our time spent
with firearms allowed him time to teach
us many of these important life lessons.
So, I too am spending time with
my five children. Lots of shooting, lots
of love and lots of life’s lessons. God

I just finished reading every page
of the January/February 2013 issue of
Handgunner magazine and I must say
that is, by far, your worst attempt yet
at publishing a poor magazine! (Side
note: It’s now the only one I subscribe
to, by the way.) If you want to have a
sub-standard publication, you’ll have
to get rid of writers like Conner, Taffin,
Duke and all the rest of your fine staff!
Yourself included. Then, it might begin
