our society are not lemmings. They are
not going to follow any single leader
off the cliff on either the right or the
left. The small percentile who believes
this can happen are lemmings.
Those of your readers who have
stricken words like adapt, consideration
and listen from their vocabularies are
still entitled to their opinions and certainly
they can voice that opinion. Just
because it’s their opinion does not make
it the gospel. Individuals who buy your
magazines should still be able to enjoy
learning the intricacies of firearms and
be fascinated by the engineering marvels
that they are without being labeled
“anti-gun” because they don’t subscribe
to some far right diatribe and participate
in president bashing.
We don’t ask our youth their political
affiliation before sending them off
to possibly give their lives to defend
our freedoms around the world. By
the same token why should we require
adherence to some specific political
doctrine to defend our gun rights as citizens
here at home. Those who choose to
remain a part of a fringe group — by all
means do so. We who enjoy this sport
are in this together and the sooner we
think as a team the sooner we can make
our views main stream and guarantee
them for the future.

Bob, I certainly agree we need to be
civilized when it comes to all this (I only
wish the gun-grabbers would be …), but
I confess I just can’t get my head around
someone who says they are pro-gun and
enjoys owning guns — then votes for
a candidate who has already shown
their willingness to take lawfully owned
guns out of the hands of private citizens.
How’s that again? I think you called
mindless followers lemmings, and it
seems they struck again in the recent
elections. Let’s hope they don’t take the
rest of us off that cliff. RH

I stand with KC Keaton, who raised
a well-reasoned argument in favor of
a broader view of guns in American
society. I was disappointed to see
how flippantly you and some of your
readers dismissed him. I prefer American
Handgunner to other gun publications
because I am not interested
in rifles and shotguns. But I believe
the gun rights establishment does itself
a grave disservice by clinging to its
paranoia and intransigence in the face
of national concern over gun violence.
The ignorant viciousness with which it
assails those with a different view is an
