I received yet another of the periodic
“Notices of Renewal” of my subscription
to your excellent magazine
from yet another off-the-wall, vulture
organization. They wanted to charge me
exorbitant prices for what I already paid
for directly to you gents. I will joyfully
shred it, but thought the occasion called
for a thanks to you guys for alerting
us to these nefarious practices in your
“Roy Alerts!” in each issue. I hope and
trust you will continue to remind us to
pay attention to these things!
And while I’m here, let me thank
you and your marvelous collection of
expert and entertaining staff for the
monthly production of the best and
most enjoyable gun mag in existence!
American Rifleman is wonderful, too,
and I have been reading it for 60 years
or so — but lacks your pizzazz! The
writing is first class, the photography
is wonderful, and the views expressed
are right on. And your response to
“The Whiners” in the Speak Out section
is always excellent, accurate —
and amusing.

Dr. Bronson
The authors, the topics and the indepth
analysis is something that helps
me learn every time I read your magazine,
and that’s something I can’t say of
any college textbook I’ve ever owned!
The article (“Big Boomers,” Nov/
Dec 2012) by Dr. Davis Bronson was
extremely informative and, while I can
admit I reread it several times, it covered
the topic of shooting’s effect on
the hand in an understandable way. I
would really love to read more by Dr.
Bronson, especially about the effects
of hard-recoiling revolvers. I sustained
a wound to my upper arm a little over
a year ago, and while I retain full use
of my shooting arm and hand I have
a long plate and screws in my arm. A
lot of us shooters have similar “life
lessons” etched into our skin so perhaps
he could research how repetitive
