Albert board explores updating employee handbook

Township board discussed
updating the employee
handbook during
its regular meeting Monday
nighi.

judy Green gave board
members a copy of an older
version and a newer version
of the handbook to compare.
The board will set up
a meeting time to work on
the updated handbook after
the holidays.
Also during the meeting,
the board discussed the
need for a township zoning
enforcement officer. They
decided to do some further
checking on past enforcement
officer pay and frequency
of a need for the officer
before deciding how to
handle the issue.
John Righi, township
treasurer, read the treasurer's
report (see related story). He
also suggested a cost-saving
purchase of ice melt. The
township currently pays $15
for a 40-pound bag — Righi
priced a pallet at ACE Hardware
for 63 40-pound bags
for $630, which is 25 cents
per pound. The board unanimously
approved the purchase.
Righi also reported the
township maintenance
manager found a water leak
in the basement of the old
Ames building that resulted
in the loss of 48,000 gallons
of water. The water was shut
off at the meter and did not
interfere with the service
of other businesses using
township water. Righi told
the board he was unsure of
the cause of the leak.
