'Seams Like New'resale shop<br />

open at Crossroads Industries<br />

GAYl-ORD — Stacy Twi^ and Penny Briley<br />

were chatting and laughing as they sorted<br />

through and worked at folding a pile of recently<br />

donated clothing to "Scams Like New."<br />

Crossroads Industries Inc. new resale shop<br />

which specializes in inexpensive used clothing.<br />

l^ter. Briley began hanging jackets on a<br />

rack while TWigg continued to inspect and<br />

fold pairs of pants, which she then slacked on<br />

a nearby display table, ready <strong>for</strong> sale.<br />

Twi^ and Briley are clients who work at<br />

Crossroads, a nonprofit community rehabiiitalion<br />

organization which employs developmentally<br />

disabled adults who live in the area.<br />

The two have been learning the ropes of the<br />

resale clothing business, which opened to the<br />

public last month. Eventually the two will learn<br />

how to wail on customers — ringing up sales,<br />

collecting money and making change.<br />

Crossroads CLO Bill Marshall said the pal<br />

of the new store is lo pro\-ide additional jobs<br />

<strong>for</strong> their clients. The organization recently<br />

opened a document destruction and rec>'cling<br />

program adding lo the business's established<br />

bulk mailing program, packaging services and<br />

woodshop operations.<br />

Marshall said "Seams Like New," an offshoot<br />

of an earlier free clothing store at Oossroads,<br />

will continue to provide free clothing to<br />

those in need, while also selling inexpensively<br />

priced clothing to the general public.<br />

"I want to stress thai those in need will still<br />

be able to get free clothing." Marshall indicated.<br />

"We will continue to work wiih social<br />

service agencies and the Salvation Arniy lo<br />

provide clothing <strong>for</strong> their clients."<br />

Marshall said social service groups will<br />

continue lo issue vouchers <strong>for</strong> free clothing<br />

to their clients which may be redeemed at<br />

"Seams Like New."<br />

To make things easy al the new used clothing<br />

outlet, Marshall said all pants are priced<br />

to sell at S2 a pair, while shirts will be sold <strong>for</strong><br />

$1 each.<br />

Tax deductible donations of clothing are<br />

accepted at Crossroads Monday-l'riday from<br />

8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Slore hours <strong>for</strong> the public are<br />

Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. lo 3 p.m.<br />
