at Crossroads Industries.
open at Crossroads Industries
GAYl-ORD — Stacy Twi^ and Penny Briley
were chatting and laughing as they sorted
through and worked at folding a pile of recently
donated clothing to "Scams Like New."
Crossroads Industries Inc. new resale shop
which specializes in inexpensive used clothing.
l^ter. Briley began hanging jackets on a
rack while TWigg continued to inspect and
fold pairs of pants, which she then slacked on
a nearby display table, ready for sale.
Twi^ and Briley are clients who work at
Crossroads, a nonprofit community rehabiiitalion
organization which employs developmentally
disabled adults who live in the area.
The two have been learning the ropes of the
resale clothing business, which opened to the
public last month. Eventually the two will learn
how to wail on customers — ringing up sales,
collecting money and making change.
Crossroads CLO Bill Marshall said the pal
of the new store is lo pro\-ide additional jobs
for their clients. The organization recently
opened a document destruction and rec>'cling
program adding lo the business's established
woodshop operations.
Marshall said "Seams Like New," an offshoot
of an earlier free clothing store at Oossroads,
will continue to provide free clothing to
those in need, while also selling inexpensively
priced clothing to the general public.
"I want to stress thai those in need will still
be able to get free clothing." Marshall indicated.
"We will continue to work wiih social
service agencies and the Salvation Arniy lo
provide clothing for their clients."
Marshall said social service groups will
continue lo issue vouchers for free clothing
to their clients which may be redeemed at
"Seams Like New."
To make things easy al the new used clothing
outlet, Marshall said all pants are priced
to sell at S2 a pair, while shirts will be sold for
$1 each.
Tax deductible donations of clothing are
accepted at Crossroads Monday-l'riday from
