• Volunteer member of the NGO Woman Inc. in various official capacities on the Executive
Committee (Board} for over 25 years including 2 tenures as President and several others
as coordinator of the Public Education-Legal Reform Committees. Member of the board
of AWOJA (The Association of Women’s Organizations of Jamaica} and served as
Chairman {2005-2009} and Vice-Chairman{2009 -} of the Board for SISTREN Theatre
Collective
• Project manager, gender consultant, facilitator/trainer for ‘Women and Development’
projects under the auspices of International organizations such as UNDP, UNIFEM,
UNFPA, IDB, USAID, CIDA, and the US Ambassadors Fund., and was part of a team of 4
who wrote and presented the first Alternative Report for CEDAW in the English speaking
Caribbean. {2000-2001}
• Designed and implemented a multitude of workshops, seminars, campaigns and public
sessions to promote Gender Equality; to focus on the elimination of all forms of violence
against women including victims of trafficking in persons and those who suffer from
discriminatory stigma and violence against women as a result of living with HIV/AIDS
• Coordinated the woman Inc Project “Live and Let Live” to address stigma and
discrimination for women living with HIV/AIDS.
• Trainer forworkshops under the title “Women,Violence,HIV” conducted in Turks
and Caicos Islands; on behalf of the National Aids Programme {Ministry of Health and
Human Services} in collaboration with the Gender Affairs Unit;: supported by PAHO-
Bahamas
• Frequent Delegate to the UN-New York at CSW- {Commission on the Status of Women},
Beijing +5, Beijing +10 and CEDAW (Convention for the Elimination of all forms of
Discrimination Against Women); Served on the Jamaica Post-Beijing joint committee
that framed the Jamaica Plan of Action (POA).
