The classic cluster management approach needs to be reconsidered and adapted. A new role of
cluster managers is emerging. We have to be human and digital at the same time. It is essential
to acquire new skills that enable us to adapt faster to the new challenges we
are facing in a global digital world.

A breakout group of 30 participants met in the conference’s ‘village’, an open air, think-big space
under the welcoming shade of a large tree. With the deliberate absence of PowerP oints and set speeches,
small teams interacted and identified good practices or bad practices in cluster development. Two thirds of the
groups self-elected to focus on bad practices! These deliberations were followed by a plenary discussion, with
participants circulating in the open spaces between the flip charts.
Voted by participants as the best session in Delhi, facilitators were awarded with free TCI
membership for 2011.
