Membership in 2011: Expanding the network and consolidating
the capacity
Despite the difficult global economic environment and the constraints on budgets, the TCI community has shown a consistent
growth over the last 4 years and more than 3,000 competitiveness practitioners, double than in 2008, make up the TCI
community today. We attribute this growth to a host of activities that include our consolidated Annual Global Conference
(we are holding our 14 th Annual Conference in Auckland, November 2011), and the addition of increased and diversified
conference offerings, including regional and thematic conferences and specific workshops, where practitioners can share and
analyse problems with peers and get prepared to tackle new challenges in their daily work.
But it is the ongoing increase in organizational membership, where we added on average 10 new supporting organizations in
each of the last 4 years, what makes us particularly happy as this bodes well for the long-term health of the organization in
terms of financial sustainability but also with their expertise and advanced capabilities. 52 leading organizations, government
departments, development agencies, consultancy firms and academic institutions from Europe, North and Latin America, Asia,
Oceania and Africa, have believed in the great potential of the TCI Network to make true progress in the practice of cluster
development, regional competitiveness and innovation, and have decided to support TCI as organizational members in 2011.
