The road between Los Angeles and San Francisco
has always been a popular route for West
Coast wanderers. Your average holidaymaker
likes to take a couple of days and cruise up the
coast – all very nice and enjoyable, but we here
at STA Travel like to make things a bit more
interesting. This 11 day trip zooms you up to
San Fran in a not altogether straight line, taking
in an abundance of spine-tingling sights. You’ll
still have a chance to check out the lovely sunsplashed
beaches that California is so famous
for with a couple of days in San Diego, but
from that point onwards you’ll head deep into
cowboy country. The desert oasis of phoenix,
the awesome splendour of the grand Canyon,
the delightfully dangerous possibilities of Las
vegas and the stunning ecological artistry of
Yosemite National park are all explored as you
meander your way towards the ‘City by the Bay’.

DAy 1: loS ANGElES & SAN DIEGo
meet up with your crew and head south to
San Diego. enjoy the beautiful weather then head
to the gaslamp Quarter’s lively nightlife. (D)
DAy 2: SAN DIEGo
Wander around and discover what America’s
'Finest City' has to offer – 70 miles of beautiful
beaches, a world famous zoo, sailors, surfers,
shopping, culture, and a gentle climate. (B)
DAy 3: PhoENIX
Leave the beach behind and head towards
phoenix, a metropolitan desert oasis and haven
of fun, funky dining and hip nightlife. (B)
DAyS 4-5: GRAND CANyoN NATIoNAl PARk
From the ‘valley of the Sun’, journey to the
majestic grand Canyon with a stop in the quirky
town of Sedona, nestled in ‘red rock' country.
Day five is all yours - staying in grand Canyon
National park, you'll hike, walk or take an
optional helicopter flight for a birds eye view of
this phenomenal natural wonder. (2B, D)
DAyS 6-7: lAS VEGAS
get your kicks on route 66 as you head
toward the bright lights and bling of Las
vegas. Day seven is all yours - hang out on
the ‘Strip’, relax by the pool or check out Sin
City’s flashiest hot spots. Try not to gamble
away all your savings! (B, D)

DAy 8: bASS lAkE
Awake with a sore head but a big smile and
say goodbye to the party in the desert. Drive
through the mojave Desert past iconic Joshua
trees towards the adventures awaiting you in the
wilds of the Sierra Nevada mountains. (D)
DAyS 8-11: SkI lAkE TAhoE (DEC - MAR)
if you’re travelling between December and march,
this tour packs in three days of snow sports
action at Lake Tahoe (instead of Yosemite).
Ski or snowboard in this legendary area or try
one of the many other activities - ice-skating,
sledding, snowmobiling - and did we menton
the awesome après ski fun? You’ll head to San
Francisco on Day 11. (2B, 2D)
DAy 9: yoSEMITE NATIoNAl PARk
Staying in the stunning mountain paradise of
Bass Lake, enjoy the diverse beauty of this
treasured national park - from its mountains and
meadows to its waterfalls, wildflowers and world
famous rock formations like el Capitan and Half
Dome. Hike and bike around the valley floor to
get the full experience. (B, D)
DAyS 10-11: SAN FRANCISCo
Head out of the mountains and into one of
America’s most colourful cities. Fall under its
spell and catch awesome bay views as you check
out the sights of the rollicking ‘City by the Bay’.
Say farewell to your new mates at any time on
