2011 Superintendent’s Luncheon<br />
New initiatives for the 2011-2012 school year included:<br />
n Full-day kindergarten at all elementary schools<br />
n Achievement Academies for juniors and seniors at Penn High School<br />
n A class in Chinese introduced at Penn High School<br />
n P-H-M Planetarium upgraded to Digital Video Theater<br />
n Extensive remodeling of chemistry and biology labs/classrooms at<br />
Penn High School<br />
More than 170 business leaders, educators, P-H-M parents, and other community<br />
members attended the luncheon that included special recognitions. P-H-M<br />
and community volunteer Bob Kania was honored as the Cornerstone recipient,<br />
and Debbie DeLaurelle was recognized as the 2011 P-H-M Teacher of the Year.<br />
In addition, <strong>PHM</strong>EF grants recipients were recognized for their innovative<br />
programs or projects to enhance educational opportunities for students. Several<br />
teachers and staff members displayed materials from their projects at the<br />
luncheon. Attendees were able to view first-hand how <strong>PHM</strong>EF grants impact<br />
P-H-M students.<br />
