Controller main types
The programs of the Xsample Chamber Ensemble are divided into two main types:
1. cc1 sets
The volume and sound can be continuously controlled by Mod Wheel (CC01). On this set you can also
control the volume and sound after key touch. You can find these sets on strings and winds but also on
percussion like chimes rolls.
2. velocity sets
The volume is controlled by velocity.
Additional controller
Phrasing controller: This controller makes a smooth ending note.
Switch controller/ fade controller (Mod Wheel): You can change the style with the Mod Wheel for
instance on the solo string program >spiccato / marcatoxfade vibrato - senza vibrato cc2 / cc1< works with a 2 dimensional
continuous sound control. Volume/sound = Mod Wheel (CC01) and senza/ natural vibrato = Breath
Control (CC02).
Instrument banks: For an easy handling and saving MIDI channels on bigger ensembles you can use
the mallets and percussion banks. On these banks all sounds are integrated and you can access the
various instruments by program change.
Mono versions / reduced versions: Reduced and mono versions can be used for rehearsal situations or
for improving computer performance. Beyond that for bigger ensembles the mono instruments can help
you to get a more transparent sound mix.
Play version and score version: On top of the conventional adaptation for using with keyboards or
sequencers, this software also contains an interface for Make Music's* finale* and Sibelius*. For this
reason there is a play-version for using a keyboard as well as a score-version for using notation software,
for woodwinds and for stringed instruments.
Remark to controller setting s sheets
Please go to page 16 for exact lists of controller settings. There are also described the “switching
parameter”, which trigger the playing styles and articulations. Special sounds, that are not directly
associated in Sibelius*, can be set in the internal dictionary by the sound-id’s. In order to distinguish
between sound-id’s and key words, we wrote the sound-id’s italic and included them in brackets.
