Town of Banff Local <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong><br />
4.4 Proposed Measures<br />
On November 7 and 8, 2002, the Town of Banff held consultation workshops with residents,<br />
local businesses and Town of Banff staff to identify potential measures to include in Banff’s<br />
Local <strong>Action</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>. This section presents a priority list of initiatives that were identified during<br />
these sessions. A few additional items have been included as they represent important low-<br />
hanging fruit and/or strategic opportunities. A complete summary of the feedback received at<br />
these workshops is included in Appendix 5.<br />
The proposed initiatives include are summarised below.<br />
Municipal Operations Initiatives<br />
1. Purchasing Green Energy for Municipal Operations<br />
2. Initiating an Alternative Fuels & Vehicles Program<br />
3. Establishing a Van pool Program for Town Staff<br />
4. Providing Bicycles for Town Staff for Business Use<br />
5. Increasing the Uptake of Compressed Work Weeks<br />
6. Promoting Carpooling to Town Staff and other Employers<br />
Community-Wide Initiatives<br />
1. Promoting Distributed Energy Opportunities<br />
2. Facilitating Bulk Purchase of Green Energy by the Community<br />
3. Delivering a Residential Building Retrofit Program<br />
4. Delivering a Commercial Building Retrofit Program<br />
5. Developing & Promoting Park & Ride Facilities<br />
6. Providing Energy Efficiency Products for the Community<br />
7. Launching an Anti-idling Campaign in Banff<br />
8. Developing a Towards a Sustainable Banff Web Portal<br />
9. Creating a Revolving Fund for Community-wide Energy Efficiency Initiatives<br />
10. Making the Community More Bike and Pedestrian Friendly<br />
11. Implementing Community Transportation Initiatives (e.g. a Walk & Bike to School Program)<br />
