10 support At Flinders we are committed to student success. One of our priorities is to provide the best services and facilities to support you in your study. Student Learning Centre Whether you need help adjusting to your fi rst year of study or require academic assistance throughout your degree, the Student Learning Centre can cater to your needs. If you have questions about anything to do with your studies, from how to conduct research for your assignments to better managing your time, you can make an appointment or simply drop in. You can also develop and enhance your academic writing at the Writing Centre or get help with non-specialised maths at the Maths Centre. More information is available at www.fl inders.edu.au/slc Yunggorendi If you are an Indigenous student, Yunggorendi First Nations Centre for Higher Education and Research is there to encourage and assist you to gain admission to university and help you achieve your best once enrolled. Yunggorendi student services include an orientation program, help with study and research skills, computer access, academic advice and support, and ongoing assistance with study and personal diffi culties. More information is available at www.fl inders.edu.au/yunggorendi Library Flinders has four library sites: • The Central Library situated on the plaza serves the whole university community. • The Law Library located on Level 3 of the Central Library holds materials relevant to law and legal studies courses. • The Sturt Library located in the Sturt Buildings specialises in the fi elds of nursing and health. • The Gus Fraenkel Medical Library located in the nearby Flinders Medical Centre services both students and Flinders Medical Centre staff. Our libraries are not just rooms fi lled with books on shelves. All libraries have reading and study areas and a comprehensive range of electronic resources. Each library also has a large number of dedicated internet and email work stations, computers for word processing, and printing and photocopying services. Computing support There are numerous computer labs for your use throughout the campus. All students have internet and email access and the campus has extensive wireless access. iFlinders Our student portal at i.fl inders.edu.au enables you to access course materials and resources, enrol or withdraw from topics, check your email, and keep up-to-date with Universitywide announcements. Health and counselling Our Health Service is a fully equipped and accredited Medical Centre providing a wide range of medical services. Male and female medical practitioners are available by appointment. All consultations are confi dential and services are bulk-billed for Medicare card holders. The free and confi dential Counselling Service assists students who may be experiencing diffi culties studying due to personal or social problems. Counsellors are available to talk to you about issues relating to study, relationships, family, or specifi c learning disabilities. Whatever your health and counselling needs, our psychologists and social workers can help you get back on track. Disability support We are committed to providing access and equity for students with disabilities and helping everyone fully participate in the academic, cultural and social life at Flinders. Our Disability Advisors provide a free, confi dential service and are the fi rst point of contact for students who may need assistance because of their disability. They are here to help you better access university study, act as advocates on behalf of individuals or groups, and liaise with lecturers to negotiate reasonable adjustments to teaching or assessment methods. Childcare If you have children under school age, childcare is available at Flinders University Childcare Centre. Community-based and not-forprofi t, the centre has attained the highest level of accreditation.
