Section IV. Disassembly<br />
It is necessary to disassemble, inspect, and clean the internal components to ensure<br />
proper functioning of the <strong>PK</strong> machinegun.<br />
Preparation: Clear the weapon IAW the procedures outlined in Section III, but do not<br />
rotate the selector lever back to safe or close the feed tray cover. Place the weapon on<br />
a flat surface with the bipod legs extended.<br />
Open the Feed Tray Cover: Grasp the weapon by the buttstock; with free hand press<br />
the feed tray cover catch forward and lift the feed tray cover to the fully open position.<br />
Raise the feed tray to the fully open position to expose the internal working parts (see<br />
figures 4-1 to 4-4).<br />
