Malfunctions and their<br />

Reasons for<br />

Malfunctions<br />

• Dirty receiver surface,<br />

gas port, gas cylinder, or<br />

block.<br />

• Faulty cartridge extractor<br />

claws.<br />

• Dirty or faulty feed pawl<br />

or cartridge retainer<br />

pawl.<br />

• Bent belt links or<br />

cartridges.<br />

• Faulty extractor or<br />

spring.<br />

• Dirty chamber.<br />

• Cartridge case rim torn<br />

off.<br />

• Dirty gas port or<br />

cylinder.<br />

• Faulty shutter lever.<br />

• Large headspace<br />

between the breech and<br />

the bolt face<br />

• Faulty cartridge.<br />

Corrective<br />

Action<br />

• Eject the cartridge case<br />

and continue firing.<br />

• If same stoppage<br />

reoccurs, clean and<br />

lubricate the receiver, gas<br />

port, and extractor.<br />

• If cartridge extractor and<br />

feed mechanism<br />

components are<br />

functioning properly and<br />

belt and ammo is free of<br />

defects, clean the wpn<br />

and continue firing.<br />

• If wpn components are<br />

defective, send wpn to<br />

the armorer for repair.<br />

• Eject the stuck cartridge<br />

case using cleaning rod;<br />

clean and lubricate<br />

chamber, gas port, gas<br />

cylinder, and receiver.<br />

• If rim of cartridge case<br />

tears off again, turn the<br />

gas regulator to a lower<br />

position.<br />

• If malfunction is due to<br />

faulty extractor, send the<br />

wpn to the armorer for<br />

repair.<br />

• Charge the wpn, and if it<br />

ejects the front part of the<br />

cartridge case of the fired<br />

cartridge, continue to fire.<br />

• If same stoppage<br />

reoccurs, have the<br />

headspace adjusted (at<br />

repair facility).
