UPCOMING EVENTS OCT 25TH ▪ FALL FOLIAGE FRIENDLY FARMS TOUR EVERYONE is invited to join us for the FALL FOLIAGE FRIENDLY FARMS (NEW ROUTE) drive & dine in Upperco MD. Sunday October 25th. The first drive to Friendly Farms was led by Stuart Fine, I believe in 2003, and The Chesapeake Region has continued with this popular location. This year a new route is charted to make everything new and interesting for those that joined us for the previous colorful drives. Located off Mt Carmel Rd. not far from Rt. 83, they have an as- sorted variety of selections and desserts. We will meet at the Grauls supermarket parking lot on Mt Carmel Rd just east of RT 83 at 9:30am and leave sharp at 10:00am. The restaurant will open at 11:15am, 45min earlier than usual to get us checked in and seated. Check the web site http//friendlyfarm.net/ for selections, you won't be disappointed. Sign up for the spectacular fall drive thru Maryland's own nationally acclaimed BLACKWATER NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland (www.friendsofblackwater.org/) and dine after- wards at the HYATT Resort in Cambridge MD. Robert Vigorito, who organized this tour 4 years ago is promising the same wonderful experience. On Sunday, November 8th, Porsche families will gather at the Hyatt Resort in Cambridge, Md, at 9:30am and leave for the Refuge at 10am. The migration of birds and other wildlife will pre- sent great photo opportunities worthy of framing. We will end back at the Hyatt Resort around 12:30pm, for lunch and conversation about beautiful sightings that make memories. For those so inclined, Maryland's Eastern Shore offers great sightseeing at the Refuge and many quaint waterfront towns like Oxford, St Michaels & Cambridge for exploration after the lunch. Please let the Tourmeister know ASAP if you plan to attend, and the car you will be driving. The current plan is to do a Tour, beginning at a location to be determined in Frederick, possibly a restaurant. We would gather for a social hour/ dinner on your own from the menu at 6pm, then leave for Antietam at 7:00pm. If anyone is willing to help with this, Volunteers are encouraged to contact Ellen Beck. This should be an outstanding kick-off to the Holi- day Season! UPCOMING EVENTS DEC 5TH ▪ TOYS FOR TOTS LITERACY DRIVE The beauty of the Toys for Tots Literacy Program is that each dollar donated pur- chases a book for a needy boy or girl, inspiring them to learn through reading. “When we worked with the Toys for Tots organization to create this year-round effort, our hope was not only to put books into the hands of our most economi- cally disadvantaged children, but also to raise awareness of a significant issue facing our nation, an issue that has become even more critical in these economic times,” said Stuart Mathis, president of Mail Boxes Etc., Inc., which franchises The UPS Store and Mail Boxes Etc. brands. Our second Annual TOYS FOR TOTS LITERACY DRIVE has now been routed for December 5th. Cars will gather at 9:30am near the BelAir Md Starbucks (620 Market Place Dr) adjacent to Barnes & Noble and Einsteins Bagels. The shopping center is at Rt 1 & Rt 24. We will leave at 10am for a scenic drive ending at Honeygo Village Center where donations to the Toys for Tots Literacy Program can be made at THE UPS STORE. Receipts will ac- knowledge monetary donations. Then lunch/happy hour at Libratore's resturant. Porsche friendly parking will be provided. New, Unwrapped Toys will also be accepted.
