<strong>HOUSE</strong> <strong>RULES</strong><br />

<strong>ALVA</strong> <strong>AERIE</strong> <strong>871</strong><br />

Rule #1. The Officers and Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees <strong>of</strong> <strong>ALVA</strong> Aerie <strong>871</strong> shall be the sole judge <strong>of</strong><br />

the persons who may be admitted as guests or members. They shall also be the sole judge<br />

<strong>of</strong> the qualifications and eligibility <strong>of</strong> members and guests. The Aerie reserves the right to<br />

refuse anyone admittance to the Buffet and Social Rooms.<br />

Rule #2. Under the direction <strong>of</strong> the Aerie, the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees shall have control <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Aerie Home and other property that is not, by law, entrusted to others. They shall be<br />

responsible for the employment and discharge <strong>of</strong> all Aerie employees. They shall supervise<br />

the operation <strong>of</strong> the Buffet and Social Rooms as provided in the Statutes for Local Aeries.<br />

Selling prices for beverages and other merchandise <strong>of</strong>fered to the membership shall be<br />

established by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees and shall be such a price to assure a fair and<br />

reasonable pr<strong>of</strong>it to the Aerie.<br />

Rule #3. The Buffet and Social Rooms shall be open and closed by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees<br />

at such hours that best meet the needs <strong>of</strong> the membership and comply with existing laws.<br />

Approved operating hours will be posted conspicuously in the Buffet and Social Rooms. All<br />

must vacate the Aerie within 30 minutes <strong>of</strong> last call. Anyone refusing to leave upon request<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Bartender on duty or a Trustee will be in violation <strong>of</strong> the House Rules and subject to<br />

suspension.<br />

Rule #4. The Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees shall be responsible for the preservation <strong>of</strong> orderly conduct<br />

<strong>of</strong> all members and guests in the Buffet and Social Rooms. Intoxication, indulgence in<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>ane, vile, or boisterous language by anyone on Aerie premises is strictly prohibited. Any<br />

disorderly conduct or violation <strong>of</strong> the House Rules may result in suspension <strong>of</strong> Social Room<br />

privileges for a period <strong>of</strong> 30, 60, or 90 days. Anyone who has to be escorted from the<br />

premises shall not be allowed to re-enter until they meet with the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees at their<br />

regular meeting.<br />

Rule #5. No member <strong>of</strong> the Aerie or Auxiliary shall be entitled to social privileges while<br />

charges are pending except at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees.<br />

Rule #6. Any member having charges against him/her and found guilty twice by the Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> Trustees, on the third <strong>of</strong>fense the charges are automatically referred to the Worthy<br />

President for proper disposition.


Rule #7. All members must have their <strong>of</strong>ficial dues receipt with them to be admitted to the<br />

Buffet and Social Rooms. Members, <strong>of</strong> the Aerie or Auxiliary, with a delinquent dues<br />

receipt will not be permitted in the Buffet or Social Rooms except to pay their dues. Prior<br />

members <strong>of</strong> the Aerie who have been dropped from the membership may not enter the<br />

Buffett or Social Rooms except to complete an application for membership.<br />

Rule #8. Non-<strong>Eagles</strong> shall not be permitted to visit the Buffet and Social rooms unless<br />

accompanied by a member in good standing. An Aerie or Auxiliary member is permitted to<br />

sign in two guests per visit. No male guest may visit more than twice except to complete an<br />

application for Aerie membership. The spouse <strong>of</strong> an Aerie member is exempt from the two<br />

visit rule but is strongly encouraged to join the <strong>Fraternal</strong> <strong>Order</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Eagles</strong>. The two-visit<br />

rule does not apply to guests attending a function in which the Banquet Hall is rented for<br />

special or private functions. Any guest outside <strong>of</strong> a 50-mile radius may be exempted from<br />

the two-visit rule by advance permission <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees.<br />

Rule #9. Anyone sponsoring a guest is responsible for that guest and the actions <strong>of</strong> the<br />

guest. Charges will be preferred against any member who willfully brings an undesirable<br />

person into the Buffet or Social Rooms. No guest may remain after the sponsoring member<br />

leaves the Aerie.<br />

Rule #10. Any member who willfully destroys or misappropriates Aerie property shall be<br />

required to make full restitution. Any member who refuses or fails to pay the full value<br />

there<strong>of</strong> will have charges filed against him/her by the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees. No article or<br />

articles belonging to the Home or the Aerie shall be taken from the premises except in the<br />

interest <strong>of</strong> the Aerie and only on written consent <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees.<br />

Rule #11. Individuals under 16 are permitted in the Banquet and Social Rooms until 9<br />

PM, except on special occasions, and must be accompanied by a parent in good standing.<br />

Parents are responsible for their children and the Aerie will not be held responsible for any<br />

injuries incurred by a child. At no time will children be permitted at the bar.<br />

Rule #12. Any visiting Eagle may visit the Buffet and Social Rooms or Home upon<br />

presentation <strong>of</strong> his/her <strong>of</strong>ficial receipt showing that he/she is in good standing. All visitors<br />

must register their names, addresses and Aerie number in the Visitor's Register.<br />

Rule #13. It shall be the duty <strong>of</strong> the Trustees, through orders to their employees, to keep<br />

all club and Aerie property clean, attractive, and in sanitary condition. The employees<br />

must be qualified by education and training to conduct the affairs in a courteous,<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>icient, and businesslike manner. Every member is enjoined to help employees keep the<br />

Aerie in a neat and attractive manner.<br />

Rule # 14. Merchandise and refreshments may be sold to sponsored guests as long as the<br />

sponsor remains in the Rathskellar. Sponsored guests may participate in games.


Rule #15. Members or guests under the age <strong>of</strong> 21 are not allowed to purchase or be served<br />

alcoholic beverages <strong>of</strong> any kind. Persons under the age <strong>of</strong> 21 may not be seated at the bar.<br />

Rule #16. Members bringing alcoholic beverages into the Rathskellar must surrender the<br />

container to the Bartender on duty. If the member's alcoholic beverage is left on the<br />

premises, it must be distinguished from other member's alcoholic beverages by having their<br />

name affixed to it.<br />

Rule #17. No weapons <strong>of</strong> any type are allowed. Anyone caught with a weapon will be<br />

suspended. The possession or use <strong>of</strong> any illegal or controlled substance on Aerie property<br />

is strictly prohibited. Violators are subject to charges or suspension.<br />

Rule #18. Any member knowing <strong>of</strong> any violation <strong>of</strong> these rules is required to report same<br />

to the Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees and, if required to do so by the Board, shall sign a written<br />

statement <strong>of</strong> such violation.<br />

Rule #19. These House Rules shall be consistent with and in compliance with the laws <strong>of</strong><br />

the locality in which the Aerie is located. The business transactions <strong>of</strong> the Buffet and<br />

Social Rooms shall be conducted as required by the laws <strong>of</strong> the community and as provided<br />

for in the Laws <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Fraternal</strong> <strong>Order</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Eagles</strong>. Violations <strong>of</strong> the House Rules can be the<br />

cause <strong>of</strong> revocation <strong>of</strong> the Buffet permit issued by the Grand Aerie, <strong>Fraternal</strong> <strong>Order</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Eagles</strong>, as well as other licenses granted by local, state, and federal authorities.<br />

Rule #20. Section 63.2(c) Statutes <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Fraternal</strong> <strong>Order</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Eagles</strong> will be rigidly enforced<br />

and <strong>of</strong>fenses against the Laws <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Order</strong> shall include, but not be limited to:<br />

"Any conduct unbecoming <strong>of</strong> a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Eagles</strong>, which shall include any<br />

violation <strong>of</strong> the House Rules and personal conduct that is likely to bring disgrace upon the<br />

<strong>Order</strong>."<br />

Rule #21. Any occurrence not covered by these House Rules must be referred to the Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> Trustees for disposition.<br />
