By-Law Changes…
The By-Laws Committee is proposing a change in the current by-laws. The
change concerns:
Section 9.2
“For the faithful performance of his secretarial duties, the Secretary shall
receive a per capita compensation, payable, and based upon, the number of
members who are in good standing and who are not more than three months in
arrears. As follows: $1.25 per month, per member”.
First Reading: December 12, 2012
Second Reading: December 19, 2012*
Third Reading and Vote: January 9, 2013
* Note change in meeting, December 19, 2012 will be a regular meeting.
As a member, you are entitled to have a vote on this change. Economic impact
on 550 members, $137.50 per month. The Secretary’s job is a time consuming
position. He puts in long hours ensuring the Aerie is functioning in the proper
order of the statutes.
From the President’s Pen…
This past month has been a good and fun month. The end of October, the 27th
to be exact, DAvE and CRISTI BURRIS chaired the Eagles Annual Halloween Bash.
We had food, drinks, costume contests, and had a great time listening to our own
ERIC JASSO’S band, “BLIND AMBITION.” A great time was had by all. Thanks DAvE,
CRISTI, and everyone (BEv, JACKIE, CYNDI, CRISTI, DEBBI H., LYNELL, DEBBIE C.,
TRISHA) and (the silent type guys that we are) connected with the set up and
decorating of the hall and the preparation of the food. Great job! Hope I haven’t
left anyone out. If I have, please accept my apologies.
November is proving to be a good month. Weather is cooling down from
triple digits and more of us are in town for functions and just hanging out with
our Brothers and Sisters at the club. Monday Night Football has still proven to be
a great time at the Eagles. Every Monday, we have had, and will continue to have
great food provided by our Brothers and Sisters. CYNDI HAWKINS has prepared
pulled pork sandwiches, BUD and ROSEMARY WILLETT prepared steak fajitas, we
have had chicken wings provided by LYNELL, tacos provided by DEBBIE COOLEY,
DARREN DIvER, LYNELL, BUD and ROSEMARY WILLETT, and we will continue our
streak through the end of football season. Come on down and enjoy your club and
friends.
– continued
The President’s Pen - continued
On Sunday, November 11th, we had a chili cook-off. There were approximately
13 entries, including mine. Needless to say, mine did not win. Third place went
to TIFFANY PITTMAN, second place went to ERIC JASSO, and first place went to
RICHARD “BARNY” BARNHART and DARREN DIvER. Great job to all that entered,
and thank you for supporting YOUR club.
This month is Christmas month. We will be having a sign-up sheet on the club
house inner door for all those wishing to donate food and/or monies to buy food
for our annual Christmas dinner to feed those less fortunate than ourselves. Keep
your eyes open for the sign-up sheet and THANK YOU in advance for all you do for
our community.
On Friday, December 14th, at approximately 6-ish, there will be a retirement
party for our own PWP FRED HUGG. FRED will be retiring after 30# years with Union
Pacific Railroad. The party will be catered by Mug Shots, and the entertainment
will be performed by the “JAMES SLACK BAND”. Hope to see you all at the Eagles
for the historic party. Come give Fred your best.
Please note this meeting change: Our third Wednesday meeting will be a regular
meeting. There will be no initiation in December.
Last, but not least, come on down and bring a fellow member (Brother or
Sister) with you and just enjoy your club and friends. We have a strong and close
knit membership, let’s enjoy it and help it to prosper.
Hope to see you all very soon, and have a SUPER Holiday Season. GOD BLESS
AMERICA and our Eagle family.
Fraternally yours,
Worthy President
Food Drive…
By now, most of you have noticed a big barrel in the club room near the bar.
If you’re not aware by now, Eagle Aerie #196 is holding a Holiday Food Drive,
supporting the Hope Center of Oroville. Please help those less fortunate than
ourselves during this holiday season and beyond. Next time you come to the club
room to meet with friends, bring a non-perishable food item with you and drop it
in the barrel. It feels good, and you’re helping make the holidays a little brighter
for those in need.
Past Worthy Presidents Meeting…
The Past worthy Presidents Club will be having a meeting on December 11,
2012, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Aerie hall. We will be choosing the
“Sister of the Year” for the year 2013-2014. Hope to see you all there.
Madam President’s Message - continued
On November 17, we got together with TRISHA BARKER and made gift bags
with lap blankets for Caring and Sharing. Thank you, everyone who donated the
blankets.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I love this time of the year. I’m
so thankful for my family and friends, and my brothers and sisters of the Eagles.
Our Auxiliary Christmas Dinner is on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. We will
start our meeting at 5:30, cocktails at 6:00, and dinner will start at 6:30. Our dinner
is pot luck, so bring your favorite dish. We will have an optional gift exchange and
card BINGO. Hope to see you there.
We are getting ready for our annual Christmas dinner that is served in the Eagles
Hall on Christmas day. This takes a lot of time and work, so please, if you would like
to help out with anything – cooking, serving, or donating turkeys, ham, potatoes,
pumpkin pies, or toys, please do so. Look for the sign-up sheets in the club room.
Mid-Winter Conference will be held this year in Chico – January 18-20, 2013. All
Auxiliary members are welcome, and it is especially important for Officers to attend.
It is great to get together with other auxiliaries, as well as getting a lot of great
information. There will be a Ritual School on Friday, January 18th, and everyone
should try to attend. Please contact Auxiliary Secretary, DEBBIE COOLEy (370-8864)
for additional information.
February 23, 2013, is the tentative date for the Auxiliary Wine Tasting. This
year beer will be an added venue. BEV BRINKER and JACKIE PETERSON will be the
co-chairs for this awesome event. Tickets will go on sale January 1, 2013. More
information will follow.
Mark your calendar for April 20, 2013. That is our 67th anniversary dinner and
pin ceremony.
Merry Christmas, and have a safe and Happy New year…
Madam President’s
Message…
We came together as a group and
put on a Halloween party on Saturday,
October 27th. It was a lot of fun dressing
up and seeing everyone in their
costumes. There was yummy food and
we danced the night away with “Blind
Ambition”. ERIC JASSO, thanks for a great
show. JEFF HAWKINS was Papa Smurf,
and won best costume for the men, and
JEANA MENDEZ won best costume for
the ladies. She was the Red Solo Cup.
I would like to thank DAVE and CRISTI
BURRIS for chairing this event. It was a
lot of fun and I can’t wait for next year.
At our last meeting on November
7th, we voted on a new dual member
from Aux. 3041 in Washington. Welcome
ERIN THOMPSON! We also drew #175
for our Member Incentive Fund drawing.
PENNy READMAN would have won $40,
but, as she was not in attendance, $5
was added, and the fund is now at $45.
Please try to attend a meeting if you can.
We would love to see more sisters in
attendance.
On November 10th, RAy WELLS
and his crew put on a country style rib
dinner, with all the fixings. It was great
to see new faces volunteering their time
to help out with cooking and serving
dinner. My favorite part of dinner was
JOyCE’S cole slaw. The following day
was Veterans Day. There was a small
parade to honor those who have served
and are serving our country. I would like
to thank you for a great job. At noon in
the club room was the Chili Cook-off.
BARNy BARNHART and DARREN DIVER
took 1st; ERIC JASSO, 2nd; and JEFF and
TIFFANy PITTMAN took 3rd. Great job,
friends. Thanks, LyNELL, BEV, and their
crew for putting on this event.
