As one of the cultural highlights of
the summer, the Birgitta Festival
combines the charm of the medieval
Pirita convent in Tallinn, and the latest
in modern musical theatre in all
its variety and richness. This year’s
programme includes Mozart’s “Don
Giovanni” from Great Britain, the trilogy
by Carl Orff (“Carmina Burana”,
“Catulli Carmina” and “Triumph of
Aphrodite”) from Mari El Republic
ballet, staged by Mai Murdmaa, and
many other fascinating pieces of
music.
ancient castle, presenting musicians
from all over the world. There are
also workshops and the traditional
acoustic concert in the old railway
station. Music is performed in the
streets and cafes, until the early
hours of the morning.
The visitors can listen to about fifty
concerts of Nordic music, participate
in film, poetry and environmental
programmes and enjoy a trip on
the sea on a Viking boat and other
unusual vassels.
