The last event of summer is the traditional
festival of preserved foodmaking
“Summer into the Jar!”,
where both local and visiting experts
offer their produce for tasting. The
competition takes place and is divided
into two categories, preparation
of savoury and sweet preserved food.
Winners are chosen separately in
professional and amateur categories.
The best receive awards. Pharmacists
give advice on how to gather
and store herbs growing in Estonia
and use them in food as well as for
medical purposes. A book with recipes
and useful hints on herb collecting
will be published.
