18 Talismans & &cations of' the Golden Dawn
The Grimorium &rum is attributed to Solomon. There are
indications it was first published by Alibeck in 15 1 7.I9To the best
of my knowledge, no copy of the first publication has been found.
It is like the Greater Key in its use of prayer, hierarchy, purification
of items for evocation. The Grimorium Verum is in two main parts.
The first concerns spirits for it says:
"...is contained various dispositions of characters, by which the
powers of the spirits, or, rather the devils are invoked, to make
them, come when you will, each according to his power, and to
bring whatever is asked: and that without any discomfort, providing
that they are on their part content; for this sort of creature does
not give anything for nothing."
The second part deals with the secrets of demons. There are
instructions which could be considered a combination astral
projection and di~ination:~~
"The two NN which you see in the second small circle mark the
place where you put your name. To know what you will, write the
names in the circle on virgin parchment, before sleeping, saying
the following Orison ... Having completed the Orison, lie down on
your right side, and you will see in a dream that which you desire
to know."
There are variations of this technique which are used today which
in modem psychological jargon are called tapping into the 'Collective

former.
