Verse Three - Spiritual Development
"And God said 'Let there be Light 'and there was Light. "
The 'Light' is the pre-existent spirit about to make itself
known(spiritua1 development). It is the acknowledgement of the
Creator and a petition to receive its grace. This is shown in the
letter Shin, the impregnated spirit.
Verse Four - Transformation
"God saw the Light that was good and he separated the
Light from the darkness. "
Transformati~n~~ occurs when the Light is transferred into
something else, in this instance darkness. In Kabbalah, the light
and dark are extremes of the same thing. They are analogous to
the white and black pillars of the Tree of Life and mercy and
severity. When using the ritual of transformation we are in a neutral
state between the two extremes - the middle pillar.
Verse Five - Invisibility7'
"God called the light 'day' and the darkness he called
'Night'. And there was evening, and there was morning -
the Jirst day. '"
The Zohar tells us12 that a day was realised when night was
introduced. This division is when the world is clothed in darkness-
invisibility.
70 In Africa, late last century, Dr.R.Felkin witnessed a man changing into an
animal when he attended a ceremony by a witch doctor. The events are recorded in
a yet unpublished biography of Felkin by Connel Townsend. In the 191 8 edition of
England's Cornhill Magazine it relates the experience of a British officer serving in
~igeriawho wounded and tracked a hyena and eventually found it had changed into
human form. In England in the 1960's, aresearcher investigating shape changing was
invited to witness it by a Wiccan Priestess. The man was so shaken by his experiences
that he gave up all future investigations into the paranormal.
