<strong>2009</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Awards<br />

Temple/<strong>AIB</strong> Best Paper Award (Award Presentation on<br />

June 30, 3:45-5:15pm, Grande Ballroom C)<br />

Sponsored by Temple University’s Fox School <strong>of</strong> Business<br />

The Temple/<strong>AIB</strong> Best Paper Award was created in 2002 through a<br />

generous endowment by Temple University’s Fox School <strong>of</strong> Business.<br />

All papers accepted for competitive sessions are eligible for the award.<br />

One finalist from each track is nominated by the track chairs based<br />

on reviewer input and their own assessments. An independent Best<br />

Paper Award Committee reviews the finalists and chooses the winning<br />

manuscript. The authors <strong>of</strong> the winning manuscript receive a plaque<br />

and a $1000 award. The winner <strong>of</strong> the award will be announced in the<br />

<strong>AIB</strong> Awards Ceremony, Session 3.5.P. Nominees for this year’s award are<br />

The award is designed to recognize the most influential paper<br />

published in the Journal <strong>of</strong> International Business Studies one decade<br />

before the <strong>Conference</strong>. In order to be considered for the <strong>2009</strong> award,<br />

a paper must have been included among the five most cited papers<br />

published in the 1999 Volume <strong>of</strong> JIBS. The winner <strong>of</strong> the award will<br />

make a retrospective presentation <strong>of</strong> their work, as well as some<br />

comments on where the field has progressed and where it should go<br />

next, in the JIBS Decade Award Session, Session 3.3.1.<br />

1970-1985 JIBS Decade Awards (Award Presentation<br />

on June 29, 8:15-9:45am, Grande Ballroom C)<br />

The JIBS Decade Award, designed to recognize the most influential<br />

paper published in JIBS one decade before the <strong>Conference</strong>, was<br />

instituted first in 1996 for the 1986 volume <strong>of</strong> JIBS. On occasion <strong>of</strong><br />

the 40 th anniversary <strong>of</strong> JIBS, the JIBS Editors engaged in a “Back to<br />

1970” project to extend the Decade Awards from 1985 back to the<br />

first volume <strong>of</strong> 1970. The awards will be presented at the JIBS 40 th<br />

Anniversary Plenary, Session 2.1.P. The plenary will also include a panel<br />

<strong>of</strong> JIBS Decade Award winners discussing their research and the field<br />

<strong>of</strong> international business studies.<br />
