Pankaj Ghemawat<br />
Anselmo Rubiralta Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Global Strategy at IESE Business School<br />
Pankaj Ghemawat earned his A.B. degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College, where<br />
he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and his Ph.D in Business Economics from Harvard University.<br />
He then worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in London before joining the Harvard<br />
Business School (HBS) faculty in 1983. In 1991, he was appointed the youngest full pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />
in HBS’s history. Since 2006, Ghemawat has been the Anselmo Rubiralta Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Global<br />
Strategy at IESE Business School in Barcelona.<br />
Ghemawat’s award-winning book, Redefining Global Strategy, was published in 2007 by<br />
Harvard Business School Press. His other books include Commitment, Games Businesses Play<br />
and Strategy and the Business Landscape, <strong>of</strong> which a new edition—with a new chapter on global<br />
strategy—will be released later in <strong>2009</strong>. Ghemawat is also one <strong>of</strong> the world’s best-selling writers<br />
<strong>of</strong> teaching cases. He served as the editor <strong>of</strong> the Business Strategy department <strong>of</strong> Management Science from<br />
2003 to <strong>2009</strong> and is a member <strong>of</strong> the AACSB’s Globalization <strong>of</strong> Management Education task force. Recent honors<br />
include the McKinsey Award for the best article published in the Harvard Business Review, the IESE-Fundacion<br />
BBVA Economics for Management Prize and the Irwin Award for the Educator <strong>of</strong> the Year from the Business Policy<br />
and Strategy Division <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> Management. Ghemawat is a Fellow <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> International<br />
Business and the Strategic Management Society.<br />

Ragnar Soderberg Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Business Administration at the Stockholm School <strong>of</strong><br />
Economics<br />
Udo Zander is the Ragnar Soderberg Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Business Administration at the Stockholm<br />
School <strong>of</strong> Economics, SSE, and currently visiting at SMIB, Victoria University <strong>of</strong> Wellington.<br />
His research interests are international management, including change and learning in the<br />
multinational company, and knowledge and the theory <strong>of</strong> the firm. His most recent areas <strong>of</strong><br />
research are knowledge and learning among the top echelons <strong>of</strong> multinational companies,<br />
and the impact and power <strong>of</strong> ideas on international firms and society where he addresses the<br />
myth <strong>of</strong> unidirectional and smooth globalization. He has published in journals like the Journal<br />
<strong>of</strong> International Business Studies, Organization Science, Management Science, European<br />
Management Review, and American Sociological Review. His academic background includes<br />
studies at the Stockholm School <strong>of</strong> Economics (M. Sc. –86; PhD –91) and as a Fulbright Scholar<br />
at the University <strong>of</strong> California, Berkeley (IB/OB –86-87) and Stanford University (OB –87). He is an<br />
elected Fellow <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> International Business and was recently elected Member <strong>of</strong> the Royal Swedish<br />
<strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> Engineering Sciences and <strong>of</strong> the Royal Swedish <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> Sciences.<br />
