Both Cezar and Ioana participated with papers in <strong>the</strong> poster section for students.
Cezar‘s poster was named “The AMD and <strong>geo</strong>magnetic anomalies on mining waste deposits”
and Ioana’s poster was called “Shallow seismic surveys in areas with waste dumps from
Romania”. Both studies were part <strong>of</strong> an environmental project concerning areas with waste
dumps in our country, in which several BSC members are involved.
Ioana also participated in <strong>the</strong> SEG/Chevron <strong>Student</strong> Leadership Symposium, which is a
two day program focused on developing leadership skills. The symposium is very well designed
for stimulating leadership attributes in students. It is addressed to those students who have
leadership positions within <strong>the</strong>ir universities’ SEG student chapters. The SEG, in association
with Chevron, <strong>of</strong>fer 30 travel grants yearly in order to facilitate <strong>the</strong> students <strong>the</strong>ir involvement in
<strong>the</strong> event. The travel grants include travelling and living costs for <strong>the</strong> two days <strong>of</strong> SEG/Chevron
SLS and <strong>the</strong> following four days <strong>of</strong> SEG International Conference and Exhibition.
The conference enabled <strong>the</strong>m to meet people and establish connections that were
meant to help our university, chapter and students in <strong>the</strong> future. Cezar also attended several
committee meetings, since he is a member <strong>of</strong> Membership Committee and Committee for
University and <strong>Student</strong> Programs <strong>of</strong> SEG.
Overall, our participation in <strong>the</strong> SEG annual meeting is a well-established tradition,
which will surely go on, becoming even more active as new enthusiastic students join our
<strong>AAPG</strong>, SEG and EAGE chapters every year.
