in Wild Goose Chase<br />
Even though water fowl season doesn't open<br />
until Saturday, we had a wild goose chase in Frazer<br />
Thursday.<br />
The Scotty cross country teams were at the Frazer<br />
Invitational yesterday, and while the boys' race went<br />
smooth, the race preceding that did not. Scotty Coach<br />
Rod Karst explained the girls' race dilemma:<br />
"There was a problem with the course run - it<br />
wasn't accurate - so I pulled the girls off of the course<br />
at approximately two miles. The person leading the<br />
race on the four-wheeler took the girls on the wrong<br />
and had them finishing a mile too soon. After<br />
the race officials figured it out, they tried to get the girls<br />
to do another loop, but I wouldn't let my girls do it.<br />
It was an unfortunate event as the girls were running<br />
extremely well, I think we had six or seven in the top<br />
ten."<br />
And, these Scotty girls take their sport personally<br />
and seriously, as Coach Karst added there were a few<br />
tears involved with the major screw-up.<br />
But that's okay as far as the bigger picture is<br />
concernced, as Coach Karst added his girls should<br />
be rested and eager to run at Saturday's Havre<br />
Invitational.<br />
As for the boys, the Scotties had three top ten<br />
runners, including Kyle Loewen's 3rd place effort,<br />
to place a distant second with 48 points behind a<br />
dominating Poplar team which finished with a lowly 19<br />
(individually lst, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th). Individually for<br />
