7.13 Anchorage areas
Anchoring is prohibited outside the line of channel buoyage in the River Elbe and Köhlbrand
and in other areas unless the Hamburg Port Authority has permitted it. Anchoring is
permitted if it is required to avoid dangerous situations.
Tunnels
Neuer Elbtunnel under the River Elbe between Maakenwerder Höft (53°32´4N 009°55´5E)
and Neumühlen (4.5 cables NW); Alter Elbtunnel under the Norderelbe between Steinwerder
and St Pauli
Vessels may pass over these tunnels at low speed only and only if there is sufficient water to
ensure that they will not touch the ground near the tunnels. Use of an anchor in the vicinity of
the tunnel is prohibited.
Submarine cables and pipelines cross fairways and basins in many places as shown on the
chart. Notice boards on the banks warn masters that using an anchor close to these cables is
prohibited.
