32% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> families (Table II) stated that at least <strong>on</strong>e <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> resp<strong>on</strong>dents experienced at least <strong>on</strong>e<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> three major distress indicators (Panic attacks, serious withdrawal, or suicide attempts),<br />

with panic attacks being <strong>the</strong> most prevalent. There were <strong>on</strong>ly five cases, in which all three were<br />

experienced in <strong>the</strong> same family or individual resp<strong>on</strong>dent.<br />

Distress and Locati<strong>on</strong>:<br />

The questi<strong>on</strong>naire was administered at a hundred displaced settlements. These have been<br />

clustered toge<strong>the</strong>r based <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir locati<strong>on</strong>, by town or commune. Sixteen (16) different macrolocati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

were analyzed. The average composite <strong>of</strong> distress ranges am<strong>on</strong>gst sites. The highest<br />

distress level scores were in Leogane (10.8), Cit e Soliel (9.6), Delmas (8.9) Croix des Boukets<br />

(8.69), G<strong>on</strong>aives same as Port au Prince (8.31) and <strong>the</strong> lowest in Grand Goave (3.0), but <strong>the</strong> last<br />

is in fact an individual score. Difference in locati<strong>on</strong> is not significantly correlated with levels <strong>of</strong><br />

distress.<br />

Even though <strong>the</strong>re is no significant correlati<strong>on</strong> between <strong>the</strong> geographic locati<strong>on</strong>s and <strong>the</strong> distress<br />

composite <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> interviewees.<br />
