3. Blood group-O:
The role played by blood group-O is uncertain. The
cause is unknown, but incidence of infection appears
to be high in this population.
4. Previous exposure and acquired immunity:
Rates are lower in areas where infection is endemic
and if there are pre-existing vibriocidal antibodies
from the previous encounters with the organisms,
especially in adults.
For the same reasons adults are symptomatic less
frequently than children and secondary infections
rarely occur or are mild.
