Finnish Ambassador to the
UK visits the Finland Terminal
On Monday 22nd November, His Excellency
Mr Pekka Huhtaniemi, the Finnish
Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s,
visited the Finland Terminal in Hull.
The Ambassador, who is keen to follow the
development of Finnish business in the UK,
is also interested, like many other Finns, in
history. During the late nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries, two million emigrants
from the Baltic States passed through Hull
on their way to Liverpool before embarking
for Canada and United States of America.
Some 430,000 of these were Finns.
The Ambassador concluded his visit on
Tuesday by boarding the Finnlines MS Birka
Trader in Immingham.
Ltd, Pekka Huhtaniemi, Finnish Ambassador to the court of St.
James’s, Matt Jukes, ABP, Hull Port Director
