Hauraki Under 14 Representative Netball
Team
On Sunday 10th July the Thames Valley
Championships were held at Matamata. The U14
Hauraki team won both their games against Te
Aroha 44-23 and Morrinsville 28-21 to be the
outright winners of the tournament and bring
home the Under 14 Thames Valley Championship
Trophy.
Hockey News
This term has been a busy term as far as
tournaments are concerned. We started the term
with the Bethlehem Tournament where our 1st and
2nd XI teams participated. The girls came 3rd and
the boys won the boys section (which was lucky as
we had forgotten to get the trophy engraved).
Last week our Boys and Girls 1st XI teams travelled
to their respective tournaments. The girls travelled
to Wanganui where they won their pool and then
after a couple of losses finished 7th (an
improvement on last year).
The boys flew down to Nelson and also finished top
of their pool. They won the quarter final and then
in the last 30 seconds of the game lost to Scots
College who won the tournament. The boys
eventually came 3rd after an exciting last game.
The U14 Team was Te Ara Watene-Mercep, Sarah
Speedy, Kelly Hamilton, Brittany Baker,
Natasha Watters, Tiffany Challis, Hannah
Berridge, Shyanne Thompson., Jurney Stewart.
Congratualtions to these girls – tremendous effort.
Lunch Time Activities
At lunchtimes Volleyball is now running every
Monday and Friday as students are gearing up for
their Thames Valley event. Badminton is running
Tuesday & Thursday lunchtimes. Anyone welcome
to join in, just turn up in your PE gear.
Many thanks to the managers and coaches who put
in lots of hours to enable the tournament to run
smoothly and the parents who gave up a week of
their time to help with the cooking, cleaning and
driving.
Our B teams are also playing well in the Thames
Valley secondary boys and girls competitions and
are looking like strong contenders for the finals.
Good luck to those teams.
For the few people who have not paid their hockey
fees these are now well overdue $110 B teams and
$130 A teams.
