Dear Parents/Guardians,<br />
This letter is <strong>to</strong> <strong>in</strong>form you that dur<strong>in</strong>g Term 3, our class will be<br />
study<strong>in</strong>g how simple mach<strong>in</strong>es move.<br />
To help us with this study, we <strong>in</strong>vite parents/guardians <strong>to</strong>:<br />
••<br />
send flyers with your child that advertise <strong>to</strong>ys <strong>in</strong> your home<br />
language;<br />
••<br />
send a (non-battery operated) <strong>to</strong>y with mov<strong>in</strong>g parts. Please<br />
make sure that your child’s name is on the <strong>to</strong>y. The <strong>to</strong>y will be<br />
returned home at the end of our study. If your child does not<br />
br<strong>in</strong>g a <strong>to</strong>y from home, there will be a selection of <strong>to</strong>ys available<br />
<strong>in</strong> the classroom that your child may choose from <strong>to</strong> work with<br />
throughout this unit of study.<br />

tissue boxes, paper rolls, juice cans, paper, car<strong>to</strong>ns);<br />

talk with your child <strong>in</strong> your home language about the unit we are<br />
do<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> class – he/she can po<strong>in</strong>t out the h<strong>in</strong>ges, levers, wheels<br />
that are on <strong>to</strong>ys or simple mach<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
Please make sure that the flyers, <strong>to</strong>ys, and recycl<strong>in</strong>g items come <strong>to</strong><br />
school by Friday of next week.<br />
By respond<strong>in</strong>g <strong>to</strong> this request, your child will be able <strong>to</strong> build a simple<br />
mach<strong>in</strong>e/<strong>to</strong>y at the end of our study.<br />
