MINUTES GENERAL MEETING 30/07/2011
WELCOME: Margaret opened the meeting at 9.37am
(54 members present).
Thank you to all helpers today BUT COULD WE
PLEASE HAVE SOME MORE GENTLEMEN TO HELP
WITH THE SETTING UP OF THE TABLES AND
CHAIRS PLEASE.
APOLOGIES: Elaine Street, Patricia Ferguson, Norma
Burnett, Janet Stevens, Hilma Kursin, Tony Castro, John
and Phyllis Lee.
NEW MEMBERS: Ruth Kimber and Sheelagh Cooper.
VISITORS: Evon and Alan Summers (Robbie‟s parents),
Janette Keith (from Rocky Point Mulching) and her
Mother Joan Fucher.
GUEST SPEAKER: Jason Peoples from Neutrog gave
an informative talk about all of the Neutrog products. A
big thank you to Jason for all of the boxes of samples for
everyone as well as the product he gave away.
CORRESPONDENCE: As read, moved for acceptance
Sue 2 nd Joan Hartas (so much a copy in the minutes
book). As part of the inwards correspondence there
were 2 letters from RACQ Careflight and RSPCA – the
membership agreed to donate $100.00 to each charity.
TREASURERS REPORT: Jenny moved that her report
as per the Newsletter be accepted.

GENERAL BUSSINESS:
John Lees' father passed away, a Sympathy Card is to
be sent on behalf of the members.
Phillip Williams spoke about telephone calls re credit
card fraud; Betty said she has had the same.
Teresa Kelly is interested in getting a Walking Group
going 2 mornings a week about 7am – if you are
interested please see Teresa.
Christmas Party the RSL Mt Warren Park, Beenleigh
Bowls Club and Beenleigh Tavern are already booked
out for 10 th December. A vote between Strikers and
Sports Club – majority voted for Strikers.

Muriel McPhail spoke to us about her home garden and
the problems she has had with termites.
The Speaker for next month is a person from the DPI re
Fireants as they have been found in abundance in this
area.
Collin Campbell will be at Mitre 10 Mega 10am – 12noon
on Saturday 13/08/2011 and same time on Sunday
09/10/2011.
We've been invited again this year to put up a display at
the Beenleigh Library – Barry Carlton, Hans, Margaret,
Jenny, Betty and Sue said they would bring plants at
9am Monday 08/08/2011 and collect them on Friday
12/08/2011.
Friendship Day. Plans are going well, we've asked for 6
members to help in the kitchen, 6 members for meet and
