JUNIOR SCHOOL NEWS<br />
Gr<strong>and</strong>parents’ & Special Friends’ Day<br />
College families were requested to provide in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
regarding invitations to gr<strong>and</strong>parents <strong>and</strong> special friends to the<br />
Student Office by 22 August. If you have not already done<br />
this, but would like us to invite someone on your behalf,<br />
please provide the Student Office with this in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
urgently.<br />

PERFORMING ARTS NEWS<br />
From Billabong to Broadway <strong>and</strong><br />
Beyond<br />
Now that the dust has settled on the Gold Coast Eisteddfod<br />
<strong>and</strong> the Somerset Festival, our attention has turned to the 20th<br />
Anniversary per<strong>for</strong>mance From Billabong to Broadway <strong>and</strong><br />
Beyond. This per<strong>for</strong>mance is on Friday, 8 October, starting at<br />
6pm in the new Multi-Purpose Centre.<br />
The programme is divided into 3 sections; a Junior School<br />
section from 6pm to 7pm, <strong>and</strong> two Senior School/Alumni<br />
sections at 7.30pm <strong>and</strong> 9pm. The Junior School section will<br />
feature per<strong>for</strong>mances from members of all our choirs who did<br />
so well at the recent Gold Coast Eisteddfod. There will also<br />
be per<strong>for</strong>mances from the Year 6 students who went on the<br />
Winton trip earlier this term.<br />
The Senior School sections will include numbers from our<br />
very successful musical, The Pirates of Penzance <strong>and</strong> new<br />
per<strong>for</strong>mances from musicals we have not done like, Chicago,<br />
Wicked, Rent, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Spring Awakening<br />
<strong>and</strong> The Jersey Boys. There will be individual numbers from<br />
fantastic per<strong>for</strong>mers such as Juliette Marshall-Hughes <strong>and</strong> Tim<br />
Crisp, <strong>and</strong> Alumni stars such as Lensei Nishizawa, Stephanie<br />
Eager, Cassie Godbold, Michelle Ford <strong>and</strong> Jessica Rowntree,<br />
who will return to entertain us.<br />
Tickets <strong>for</strong> From Billabong to Broadway <strong>and</strong> Beyond are free<br />
<strong>and</strong> are available from the Main Administration Office.<br />
Tickets will not be available at the door, so get in quick <strong>and</strong><br />
reserve your seats!<br />
Please note that all per<strong>for</strong>mers should have received a letter<br />
regarding upcoming rehearsals <strong>for</strong> this per<strong>for</strong>mance. There<br />
will be a full day’s rehearsal on Thursday, 30 September<br />
during the holidays.<br />

Junior B<strong>and</strong><br />
PERFORMING ARTS NEWS<br />
Next term, Junior B<strong>and</strong> welcomes the instrumental students<br />
from Year 4 who are ready to play in an Ensemble. The<br />
current Junior B<strong>and</strong> rehearsal time clashes with other<br />
activities <strong>for</strong> Year 4, there<strong>for</strong>e Junior B<strong>and</strong> will move to the<br />
new time of Thursday morning, commencing at 7:30am.<br />
In Term 4, B<strong>and</strong> will recommence in week 2 on the Thursday<br />
morning, as week 1 holds many rehearsals with our 20 th<br />
Anniversary celebration activities.<br />

Individual Student Achievements<br />
Congratulations to Tiegan Squires of Year 5 <strong>and</strong><br />
Torryn Squires of Year 2<br />
Tiegan <strong>and</strong> Torryn played the piano at the Somerset Festival<br />
<strong>and</strong> both achieved 3rd place. Well done girls!<br />
Congratulations to Breeanna Lavin of Year 6<br />
At the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Breeanna achieved 1 st place in<br />
the 12 years <strong>and</strong> under Tap Improvisation Section <strong>and</strong> 3 rd<br />
place in the 12 years <strong>and</strong> under Jazz Improvisation Section.<br />
At the Somerset Festival, Breeanna achieved the following:<br />
Vocal – one 1 st place <strong>and</strong> two 2 nd places<br />
Flute – three 1 st places <strong>and</strong> one 2 nd place<br />
Piano – one 1 st place <strong>and</strong> one 2 nd place<br />
Breeanna received a Distinction on her Grade 6 RAD Ballet<br />
Exam <strong>and</strong> now goes on to Majors next year.<br />

Congratulations to Hayley Lavin of Year 1<br />
Hayley received a Merit on her Grade 1 RAD Ballet Exam.<br />
At the Somerset Festival, Hayley achieved the following:<br />
Solo Humorous Poem 1 st place, Piano 1 st place, Duo Mime 2 nd<br />
place <strong>and</strong> Vocal 3 rd place.<br />

Lee Bose of Year 1<br />
Maya (pictured right) has won<br />
two 1 st places at the Gold Coast<br />
Eisteddfod Piano Competition:<br />
1st place <strong>for</strong> Solo Grade 2<br />
Level <strong>and</strong> 1st place <strong>for</strong> Solo 7<br />
years <strong>and</strong> under.<br />
