Treatment of simple diarrhea • Diarrheel • Veratrum-Homaccord • Spascupreel © <strong>IAH</strong> 2007 60 Simple diarrhoa is treated with supportive measures, like dehydration and replacement of electrolytes. This is mandatory and can save many lives in the incidence of gastroenteritis in small infants. Diarrheel is a basic combination, which will gently reduce the diarrhoa, without suppressing it as seen with the commercial products available. It will thus allow the body to excrete the offender, but still reduce all the symptoms concomitantly. Its combination is depicted in the next slide. Veratrum album is a plant which classically is used when there is severe coldness , clammy sweat and collapse associated with the diarrhoa. Veratrum-Homaccord can thus be added if this is a feature of the illness in the patient. Spascupreel can be added when there is severe cramping. 60
