and help out where he can. At Johnny’s bar, Boyd and Ava confront Colt about Ellen May. Colt
claims to have killed the girl and accuses Cassie of lying, so Boyd sends Colt out to bring Cassie
in for further questioning. Tim, meanwhile, is following Colt, suspecting that Boyd’s muscle had
something to do with the death of his drug-addicted friend. Back at the bar, Johnny tells Boyd
that Colt is a liar. ”He never killed Ellen May.” Boyd urges his cousin to please provide the missing
pieces to this puzzle.
Colt pays a visit to Cassie at the church. ”I come looking for Ellen May,” he explains before
getting rough with the church leader. Suddenly, Tim enters with gun drawn. ”Did you kill my
friend?” the marshal asks. Colt fingers his own gun. It’s a standoff. Boyd then enters, telling Colt
to put away the gun. Colt complies and Tim lets everybody go. Raylan then heads to see Bob,
who is supposed to be watching Lee and Gerald. Unfortunately, Bob has succeeded in getting
into a firefight with the two heavily armed, wealthy and condescending men. The hurt deputy
then takes out his automatic weapon and opens fire on the house. Raylan demands everybody
cease firing. ”They just kept pressing my buttons!” Bob screams. The scene allows Shelby to
confer with Hunter.
Turns out that Shelby is Drew Thompson. Shelby/Drew thanks Hunter for his years of silence
– and, most especially, his silence in the last few hours. Inside Lee and Gerald’s cabin, Bob
explains how, years ago, Shelby took the fall for something Hunter did. That gives Raylan pause.
He goes back outside to find Shelby has disappeared in Bob’s car.
Boyd interrogates Colt about killing Ellen May. ”Why are you lying to me?” Boyd asks. ”Tell me
the truth, Colt.” So Colt confesses that he ”messed up” by losing track of the girl – and explains
that he went to Shelby for help. Boyd is shocked to hear that Shelby knew about Ellen May the
entire time. The sheriff has been lying to him, too. So Boyd sneaks into Shelby’s place in the
middle of the night to find Raylan and a bunch of police waiting. It then dawns on Boyd that
Shelby is Drew Thompson.
