Justified Episode Guide After they hang up, Tim calls his bluff and quickly deploys all the men and their vehicles out of sight behind a tow truck. Colton exclaims, ”Hol-ly sh-t! They circled the wagons.” Colton watches this development through field glasses, and spots a faux Raylan when the man, a deputy sheriff, picks up his dropped stetson. He calls Boyd to tell him that the stalled convoy is a decoy. Nicky sends gun thug Yolo (Bobby Campo), short for ”You Only Live Once,” to double-check the house. Meanwhile, Raylan, Rachel and Drew set up in Raylan’s old abandoned high school, while Drew continues to bemoan his predicament. Raylan takes a call from Constable Bob who has picked up motion detector signals at both Arlo’s place and Raylan’s Evart High School, now in disuse because of a consolidation program. He notices Yolo’s truck approaching Arlo’s house, and asks Raylan if it’s one of his. Boyd assures Nicky that he can figure out where Raylan plans to land the helicopter to evacuate Drew. Boyd reminds Ava and Johnny of ”the coolest thing that ever happened at high school,” recalling how they once saw an astronaut land a helicopter on their high school baseball diamond. Boyd takes Nicky’s man Picker (John Kapelos) to the school. Back at Arlo’s place Yolo savagely and repeatedly beats Bob, who refuses to break or divulge Drew’s location. After a particularly brutal assault, Bob gets a momentary drop on Yolo and repeats his feint from ”Justified: Hole in the Wall (#4.1)” and stabs him through the leg, then desperately wrestles with him to get the nearest gun. By the time Raylan arrives and, having heard a gunshot, enters, weapon drawn to find that Bob has already killed Yolo, and nearly passed out himself. At the roadblock impasse, Tim starts shooting at the fuel take of a blocking car, causing gasoline to spill out onto the highway. Raylan and Bob return to Drew and Rachel in the high school, but realize that the sounds of an approaching chopper are too soon for police forces. With limited resources, Raylan places Bob in the principal’s office and heads off to confront Boyd and Picker in an empty stairwell. Refusing to hand Drew over, Raylan urges Boyd and Picker to return with more men, before informing Bob they have about five minutes before reinforcements arrive. Back at the convoy, Art tosses a Molotov cocktail of Tim’s design to ignite one of the nearby cars, allowing them enough smoke and cover to escape. Colton decides that he and Mort should leave as well, then fakes that he sees Drew in order to secure Mort’s sniper rifle so take the shot that Mort can see. ”Nope, it’s not him,” Colton says, then promptly turns the rifle on Mort and and kills him. Back at the bar, Ava attempts to make conversation with a stone-faced Nicky Augustine, though Nicky quickly turns the conversation on her and implies she must have fellated her way to the top of the Harlan whore chain. Johnny tells Nicky kfirst to back off, then to keep his mouth shut, but Nicky blithely fires back to Ava that Johnny attempted to have Boyd killed through Wynn Duffy, another pathetic way people try to get to the top. Ava plays the flirtatious card on Nicky for the moment, but promptly douses his face in brandy and threatens him with a lighter while relieving him of his pistol. Johnny trains his gun on Ava and urges her not to do anything stupid. He falters for a moment then tells her he loves her, as she ignores him and makes her getaway from the bar. Boyd, Picker and the reinforcements make their way through the school and up to the principal’s office to find Raylan and Bob, but Boyd knows Raylan will shoot at anyone who enters. Picker pushes Boyd to be the one to enter first, despite Boyd’s pleas that Drew must not be in there. Picker starts counting down for a reluctant Boyd to go throught the door but Raylan aborts the countdown and opens the door himself. Indeed Drew (and Rachel) is gone, and it’s just Raylan and a grim-faced Bob, with pistol trained on the doorway. Rather than lapse into another standoff, Raylan urges the men to listen to the approaching sirens, and leave before they all wind up dead. On their way out, Boyd promises Raylan they’ll have another confrontation soon. The other marshals and the KSP force arrive to meet Raylan helping the injured Bob down the stairs. Raylan reveals that it was Bob who had the inspiration of how to to get Drew out of Harlan. Elsewhere, Rachel and her captive Drew ride the coal train to safety away from the Tonin crew. 148

The other good news: Raylan is being lauded for catching Drew Thompson. ”Congratulations, you’re being suspended,” Art says with a smile. Raylan has done great work, but his list of sins is a bit longer. Before Raylan can leave on his forced vacation, however, Drew begins to make demands. He won’t say a word about the Tonin clan until Ellen May is safe. Boyd, meanwhile, is in a bad place. Ellen May is holed up at Limehouse’s place. Drew Thompson is in custody. Tonin will likely soon send his goons. Boyd has a heart-to-heart with Ava and decides he’s going to go after Limehouse. At the marshal’s office, Raylan asks Art for a delay on that suspension so he can go retrieve Ellen May (and, thus, get Drew to talk). ”Let me finish what I started,” Raylan says. Art reluctantly agrees, but Raylan must take Rachel and Tim. Johnny is still holed up at his bar with Nicky and Picker. ”Do you want to keep helping or not?” asks Nicky, explaining that inside sources have revealed that Drew isn’t talking until Ellen May is delivered. So Johnny calls Limehouse and offers $300,000 for the young woman. Limehouse refuses to cooperate and hangs up. ”Something’s not right,” Johnny tells Nicky. In other words, it sounds as if Limehouse has already made a deal for Ellen May – possibly with Boyd. Nicky then calls Boyd with an offer: he’ll give Boyd the money to pay Limehouse for Ellen May AND throw in cousin Johnny for free. Boyd likes it. So Boyd heads to Johnny’s bar – and demands that the gangster apologize to Ava for his many, many unkind words about her character. Nicky apologies, seemingly even sincerely. Ava 149
