prescribed by the Central Government as par the empowerment<br />

of the section 56 (2) of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. The<br />

code sets well-defined norms and standards of energy<br />

consumption in buildings across various climatic zones of India in<br />

order to improve energy efficiency of buildings. BEE has also<br />

been instrumental in introducing energy efficient BEE labelled<br />

fluroscent lamps, airconditioners, distribution transformers in<br />

the market to promote energy efficient services across various<br />

sectors in the country.<br />

Air India is India's national and the first flag carrier. Recently it<br />

has merged with the Indian airlines, the country’s leader in the<br />

domestic sector. It is a major force in the airline industry and has<br />

been expanding its fleet and network in both the domestic as well<br />

as international frontiers.<br />

Air India is a member of TERI – BCSD and UN Global Compact<br />

Principles but it does not have an established laid down<br />

environmental policy. Most of its environmental initiatives have<br />

The Company was incorporated on 29th June 1964 as “The<br />

Andhra Paper Mills Ltd.” at Rajahmundry. The Certificate of<br />

Commencement of business was obtained on 10th July 1964. In<br />

2001, Coastal Paper ltd. was taken over by the Company. The<br />

Production capacity of both the units put together is 1, 53,500<br />

TPA. The estimated paper production will increase to 1,74,500<br />

TPA after the completion of paper modernization plan in the year<br />

2007.<br />
