Linda Ericksen’s, Compact Guide to Web Page Creation and Design (2001)
demonstrates designing Web documents and pages with a variety of methods. This
concise book serves as a useful supplement to other computer theory texts at the
beginning level for learning how to use Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and
developing advanced skills with JavaScript to add interactivity to a Web site. Ericksen
offers an alphabetized list of HTML tags and attributes used in the book as a glossary for
easy reference. She recommends that the general structure and links should be clearly
mapped out as a storyboard before coding and offers checklists for planning a Web page,
for example:

! Determine the information to convey
! Determine how to organize the information
! Determine what will attract visitors to the Home page
