Bird activity is at its peak after dawn; beat the dog walkers before their animals disturb the foraging birds. • Don’t be too obsessed by trying to identify everything - enjoy it for what it is not what it’s called. • Invest in a good lens. Most cameras these days are capable of taking great images so stick with the camera you’ve got and spend money on a decent lens. • Don’t go crazy buying binoculars. A monster pair of bins may look the part but magnifications over 10x will result in a shaky image and tired arms. • Look at jerseybirds.co.uk – this site has daily updates of Island-wide bird activity and showcases the work of some great local bird photographers. • And finally, be patient.
