near Juntura and processes it at a plant near Vale. Carefully controlled<br />
processing results in diatomite products with specific size<br />
and shape characteristics valuable in the filtering of various juices,<br />
beverages, edible oils. and petroleum products.<br />
Cascade Pumice Company produces pumice and cinder products<br />
in various size ranges. Most of the pumice is used as an aggregate<br />
to produce lightweight poured concrete and concrete blocks. Lesser<br />
amounts are used as absorbents, horticultural soil mixes, and to<br />
stone-wash blue jeans and other gannents.<br />
All of the producers on both field trips were very gracious<br />
hosts and major contributors to the success of the 25th Forum.<br />
Proceedings of the 25th Forum on the <strong>Geology</strong> of Industrial<br />
Minerals and an index of 25 years of Forum proceedings will<br />
be published later this year by the <strong>Ore</strong>gon <strong>Department</strong> of <strong>Geology</strong><br />
and Mineral Industries. The 26th Forum will meet in Charlottesville,<br />
Virginia, in May 1990, and the 27th Forum will meet in Banff,<br />
