At present there are no PD rights<br />

provided for waste management in<br />

Northern Ireland.<br />

A new Class D in Part 2 (Minor operations) of the GDO<br />

permitting the erection of a waste storage container (for<br />

non-hazardous waste 1 ) subject to:<br />

A maximum floor area of 20 sq m;<br />

Maximum height of 2.5m;<br />

Not within 10m of boundary;<br />

Maximum 25 cu m of waste to be stored; and<br />

Not applicable to dwellinghouses or flats.<br />

A new part to the Order for ‘Landfill Sites’ allowing the<br />

following works on existing waste sites:<br />

Installation of boreholes for environmental monitoring;<br />

Installation of odour control systems;<br />

Erection of litter fencing up to 6m above made ground<br />

level;<br />

Provision of sewers, mains, cables, pipes or other;<br />

Installation of environmental monitoring equipment for<br />

gas, surface water and groundwater; and<br />

Storage of topsoil and restoration materials up to 3m<br />

high.<br />

A new part to the Order for ‘Waste Management Facilities’<br />

allowing works to existing facilities subject to the following<br />

limitations:<br />

Max 100 sq m floorspace for new buildings;<br />

Max 100 sq m for extensions and alterations to<br />

buildings up to a max of 25 per cent additional<br />

floorspace;<br />

Extensions to be no higher than existing building, and<br />

max 5m if within 10m of a boundary;<br />

New buildings and extensions to be no closer than 5m<br />

to any boundary and no closer to a highway than any<br />

existing building;<br />

Not within 10m of a boundary of a residential property;<br />

Not permitted development within the curtilage of a<br />

Listed Building unless Listed Building Consent for the<br />

development has previously been granted;<br />

No loss of turning/manoeuvring space for vehicles;<br />

Maximum 50 per cent ground coverage;<br />

Materials to match;<br />

New Class D in Part 2 PD rights to be<br />

permitted in National Parks & AONBs.<br />

Rights removed however in CAs,<br />

ASSIs and SAIs.<br />

New part for ‘Landfill Sites’ to be<br />

permitted in National Parks and<br />

AONBs but removed in CAs, ASSIs &<br />

SAIs.<br />

New part for ‘Waste Management<br />

Facilities’ to be permitted in National<br />
