GENERAL INFORMATION Conference Headquarters Headquarters is located in the Red Lion Hotel at the Park. Hotel Information The conference hotels have a 3 p.m. check-in time. All hotels have a noon check-out time. All hotels have baggage storage areas and would be happy to store your baggage before check-in time and while you’re attending Saturday’s session. You must be checked out <strong>of</strong> your rooms prior to the closing session on Saturday unless your hotel has approved an extension. Please remember that not all guests are with our conference, and they have the right to a pleasant hotel experience. In respect <strong>of</strong> their comfort, a quiet time <strong>of</strong> 10 p.m. will be enforced on all sleeping fl o ors <strong>of</strong> all hotels. Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct/Image All conference attendees have read and signed the Code <strong>of</strong> Conduct form, which is in the possession <strong>of</strong> your adviser/chaperone. We represent an outstanding career and technical student organization and project the image <strong>of</strong> the future leaders we are. Thoughtful planning and pr<strong>of</strong>essional behavior result in a pleasant and rewarding conference. We maintain a tradition <strong>of</strong> excellence through exhibiting superior behavior and appearance wherever we gather! Restaurants and Food Credits The Spokane area has many fast-food, casual, and fine-dining restaurants. Reservations are suggested in finer restaurants. Don’t forget to tip for service. Fifteen to twenty percent is recommended for good service. A general rule <strong>of</strong> thumb is to look at the tax on your bill and double it. There will be breakfast and lunch buffets at the Red Lions and Doubletree for FBLA members and advisers. Dress Code Appropriate business attire is required for all members, advisers, and staff during the business hours <strong>of</strong> 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. as well as during all general sessions, regional meetings, and other conference activities unless otherwise noted in the conference program. Dress code monitors are on duty during conference events. For men: Slacks, dress shirt and tie, or slacks, banded collar shirt with sport coat or business suit. Suit or sport coat is preferred. Dress shoes and socks are required. For women: Suit, pants suit, dress, or skirt with blouse/ sweater/blazer, and appropriate dress shoes required. Capris or gauchos with coordinating jacket/suit, worn below the knee. Denim may be worn for caucusing and the dances only. Conference t-shirts and wrist bands are required for all evening conference activities. Identification <strong>SBLC</strong> attendees will be identified by name badges as well as wrist bands. The wrist band fastens on with a snap closure. It’s meant to stay on your wrist for the duration <strong>of</strong> the conference and is not to <strong>2013</strong> FBLA State <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Leaders</strong>hip Conference be shared with others. The name badge identifies you individually. The wrist band identifies you as a conference attendee and will protect you from uninvited guests as members without wrist bands will not be admitted into conference activities. Wrist bands must be worn with the conference t-shirt to attend the karaoke and the dance. Chaperones and Curfews <strong>Washington</strong> State FBLA requires an in-state adviser/chaperone to student ratio <strong>of</strong> 1 to 10 for overnight travel. Advisers/chaperones, please enforce curfews. This means students must be in their rooms at stated times. Students outside their rooms after curfews must be with an adviser/chaperone. Curfew is 11:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Please enforce curfew for all students, not just your own. We are all here to help each other! INB Performing Arts Center Seating at general sessions will be by region and has been assigned randomly. A copy <strong>of</strong> the seating diagram is available outside conference headquarters. Exhibit Booths Exhibits will be held in the Red Lion Hotel at the Park Tower Prefunction areafrom 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Be sure to visit the exhibit area and see our pr<strong>of</strong>essional and college exhibitors! Silent Auction Visit the Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Division’s Silent Auction in the Exhibit area for students and in Ballroom D for adults. For Your Safety • Do not wear name badges outside the hotels and INB Performing Arts Center for non-conference activities, but please keep your wrist band on. • Check the location <strong>of</strong> the nearest fire exit to your room. • Notify your family <strong>of</strong> your hotel room numbers as soon as possible. • Secure valuables in the hotel safety deposit box. Cellular phones are to be turned <strong>of</strong>f while you attend conference activities! • Travel in groups <strong>of</strong> three or more! If approached by a stranger, walk away without conversing. • Do not give money to anyone you do not know. • Use the peep hole in your room door and do not open the door unless you can identify your visitor. • Use the chain locks on the door when in your room. • Have your room key ready before reaching your room. • Remember that Spokane is a city; please travel in groups when outside <strong>of</strong> the hotel. Dance Conduct As an FBLA member at this conference, it is important to remember that pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism does not stop once your events are over. Therefore, we are reminding all members that inappropriate dancing is not allowed at any FBLA sponsored dances. Inappropriate dance behavior includes moshing, slam dancing, freak dancing, or any lewd or sexually explicit displays or anything that could be construed as inappropriate touching.
