GENERAL INFORMATION
conducts are observed, you will be asked to leave the dance. If the
general atmosphere at the dance reflects inappropriate behavior,
the dance will be shut down and students sent to their room for an
early curfew. Please remember that you are FBLA members and
are expected to act in a professional manner at all times. Your
conference t-shirt and wrist band will be your admission to the
dance.
The Voting Session
On Saturday morning, voting delegates will arrive at the designated
time to be seated in the front section of the INB. Those wishing
to observe the voting session may sit in the back after voting
delegates are seated.
The general assembly should be quiet upon entering the voting
session. The general assembly may be seated only in the back to
observe the process of voting. Members should not be going in and
out of the room. Please plan on staying in the room once you are
in and seated.
After the voting session has been completed, there will be a
short recess after which voting delegates are allowed to join their
chapters in the appropriate assigned section. Once the Awards of
Excellence session has started, we ask that all members remain in
their seats and stay for the entire session.
If you plan to attend the National Leadership Conference, or are
an award winner, it is very important that you attend the meeting
following the Awards of Excellence ceremony. All top 5 winners
must show a “Y” for YES in the National Eligible column of the
Chapter Members chart on our Registration System. This will
assist the state office knowing if winners plan to compete at NLC
or relinquish their National competitive place to the next winner.
Anyone planning on attending NLC MUST notify the State Office
by Friday, May 3.
Shuttle Service
Shuttles are being provided and will be available for all tours.
Clock Hours
OSPI has approved 15 clock hours for this conference. In order to
receive clock hours, you must sign up at the Registration counter
at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park to receive your conference
evaluation form. After attending both general sessions and
workshops, you must complete the evaluation form in order
to get your signed Inservice Registration Form for clock hours.
Inservice Registration Forms will be available at the conclusion of
the Awards Session.
K EYNOTE S PEAKER
H OAN DO
Raised by poor immigrant parents who nearly lost their lives to escape the Vietnam
War, Hoan Do understood at a young age the importance of sacrifice and hard
work. After being accepted to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California,
Hoan concentrated on succeeding so he could in return take care of his parents.
With the tremendous pressure Hoan placed on himself, in addition to the stresses of
being a college student, he found himself hitting rock bottom. Refusing to settle and give
up, Hoan used this experience as a turning point in his life.
Immediately after graduating from college, Hoan beat out candidates who were
considerably older and vastly more experienced than him to work with the number one
personal development company in the world. As a national speaker and corporate trainer,
Hoan conducted training sessions for distinguished audiences that included: Coldwell
Banker, Century 21, Bank of America, Honda, Toyota, UBS Financial, Chambers of
Commerce, and for the U.S. Army.
For the past five years, Hoan has been fiercely committed to sharing practical advice
that will help students to succeed in and out of school. He is the recipient of the Verizon
Wireless Motivator Award and was named the Best Youth Mentor by the International
Examiner.
