From the President From Our House to Yours Whatever your holiday tradition this time of year, WGBH is here to help you celebrate—at home with your family, out in your community and on the go. We also have created some local holiday traditions of our own, starting with 89.7 WGBH host Brian O’Donovan’s popular A Christmas Celtic Sojourn live concerts across massachusetts and new Hampshire throughout the month (see page 26). “the concerts are an extension of the annual Christmas edition of my radio show, A Celtic Sojourn,” Brian says. “they’re a blend of music, poetry, dance and storytelling in which i play the role of Fear an Tí, ‘the man of the house.’ We strive to create an atmosphere that welcomes you into our home.” And what a home it is, filled with world-class Celtic talent, from the groundbreaking singing group solas to virtuoso harpist and singer maeve Gilchrist. to spread the joy even further, you can hear one of the captivating Christmas Celtic Sojourn concerts from Boston’s Cutler majestic theatre on 89.7 WGBH on saturday, december 21, a performance we’re also sharing with public radio listeners nationwide through Pri. this year, we also will be sharing more of the Hub’s classical holiday happenings than ever before on 99.5 WCrB and classicalnewengland.org (page 27). Highlights include the Boston Children’s Chorus: All Choir Holiday Concert; Eternal Echoes for Hanukkah with WCrB host James david Jacobs and new england Conservatory professor Hankus netsky exploring Jewish sacred music; and Handel’s Messiah from the Handel and Haydn society with Harry Christophers conducting this memorable live performance from symphony Hall. Of course, the holidays also can bring a certain measure of family drama, and we have plenty of that, too!
