<strong>Aswan</strong> Governorate is divided <strong>in</strong>to five centers (the city of <strong>Aswan</strong>, the<br />

capital ‐ Kom Ombo ‐ Draw ‐ Nasr El Nuba ‐ Edfu)<br />

The Center of <strong>Aswan</strong><br />

The city of <strong>Aswan</strong> is the capital of the governorate of <strong>Aswan</strong> which is the<br />

southern door for Egypt, located on the east bank of the Nile at the First<br />

Cataract of the Nile with a population of 200.000 people<br />

and generally <strong>Aswan</strong> has a dry weather for example, no ra<strong>in</strong> falls <strong>in</strong><br />

the last six years of 1995.2001 therefore it is not usual to roof some of<br />

the rooms of the Nubian village homes.<br />

The center of Kom Ombo<br />

The Population is about 674.6 thousand people and a total area<br />

is2866 km 2 or about 8.28% of the area with a length of<br />

45 km along the Nile and its width is about 15 km because the center is<br />

new founded <strong>in</strong> 1901.<br />

Population<br />

The city of Kom Ombo has about half million people divided <strong>in</strong>to two<br />

halves , the ma<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>digenous people, who are liv<strong>in</strong>g on the banks of the<br />

Nile and called the western l<strong>in</strong>e. The second half of the population, who<br />

are moved to the town of Kom Ombo to work at the Sugar Factory or for<br />

trade <strong>in</strong> the big market, which is located <strong>in</strong> the city center.<br />
