Among the most important agricultural crops which are famous <strong>in</strong> <strong>Aswan</strong><br />

sugar cane, hibiscus, wheat, henna, and dates. The cultivated area with<br />

canes are more than 50% of the area ofagricultural land preservation,<br />

Palm cultivation comes <strong>in</strong> the second and then the crop of hibiscus, The<br />

governorate is characterized by ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the production of date with<br />

varieties and high quality, ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g 1.8 million Palms that produces<br />

about93tonsofdates,andthereisalsoalotofmedic<strong>in</strong>alandaromatic<br />

plants, which lend themselves to the conditions of the environment and<br />

climate.<br />

Fishery Wealth <strong>in</strong> <strong>Aswan</strong><br />

High Dam Lake is the second largest artificial lakes <strong>in</strong> the world <strong>in</strong> terms of<br />

area and its length is of 500 km <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g 350 km of Egyptian land, the<br />

lake is characterized by fitt<strong>in</strong>g its environmental conditions<br />

for breed<strong>in</strong>g of many fish species <strong>in</strong> addition to the abundance of natural<br />

base of food and the annual fish production is of 26,000 ton/ year.<br />

Because of the large components of the fishery resources <strong>in</strong> the High<br />

Dam Lake, it can achieve production of up to 80000 tons/ year (Japanese<br />

study).<br />

The fisheries of High Dam Lake are divided <strong>in</strong>to two ma<strong>in</strong> regions as<br />

follows:
