Motion Control Current Sensing ICs<br />

The IR217x/IR227x is a family of monolithic current sensing ICs designed for motor drive<br />

applications. The ICs sense the motor phase current through an external shunt resistor,<br />

convert the current information from an analog to a digital signal, and transfer the signal<br />

to the low-voltage circuitry. IR's proprietary high-voltage isolation technology is implemented<br />

to enable the high bandwidth signal processing. The output format is either a discrete<br />

PWM to be used when A/D interface is not available, or an accurate analog signal<br />

linked to an external voltage reference to simplify signal conditioning in A/D equipped<br />

applications. The dedicated over-current trip signal facilitates IGBT short circuit and overcurrent<br />

protection. The open-drain digital outputs of the IR2175, IR2177, IR2277, IR21771,<br />

and IR22771 make it easy for any interface from 3.3V to 15V. The self-adaptable analog<br />

output of the IR2177 and IR2277 make it easy to interface AD converter with any input<br />

range from 3V to 12.5V.<br />
