means a matter of course that a bike brand promotes the respective
competitive sport. We at CENTURION, however, are most certainly
convinced that our specific sponsoring of the TEAM CEN-
TURION VAUDE is an extremely good idea for several reasons.
On the one hand, we really enjoy supporting ambitioned athletes
whose successes result from tireless and tiring efforts. Unfortunately,
to train hard without any excuses over long weeks or
months is not rewarded all too often: Many athletes begin their
personal winter break with numerous rankings below the podium
sphere – and it is certainly and especially annoying when the own
fitness level may have been sufficient in contrast to the insufficient
material utilized. The five protagonists of the TEAM CENTURION
VAUDE ride our Twentyniner hardtail Backfire Carbon Ultimate
Race.29. After Markus Kaufmann’s triumph in the German National
Marathon Championships 2012, the team’s working tool
has impressively proved its excellent suitability for competitions
by helping to win the prestigious BIKE Transalp racing event just
one year later. For Season 2014, the frame weight of the top-ofthe-line
model from our carbon hardtail series has been reduced
by another 80 g. Therefore this bike is undoubtedly a top recommendation
for further trophy hunts.
But on the other hand, supporting a racing team successfully
means of course more than “just” the intention to be successful:
From the experiences of our athletes, we gather highly valuable
knowledge for the refinement of our bikes as well as for fundamental
approaches to completely new constructions. That’s why CEN-
