Starting from the ALTIPIANI DI FOL-<br />
GARIA, LAVARONE AND LUSERNA where<br />
steep alpine mountainsides alternate<br />
with gentle pasturelands<br />
and densely wooded slopes.<br />
Here you can do whatever takes<br />
your fancy among the various<br />
sports activities readily available:<br />
youth championships of basket<br />
ball and football, climbing<br />
with mountain guides, lessons<br />
on the golf course, swimming in<br />
the Palasport centre, horse riding,<br />
mountain biking and much<br />
more. FOLGARIA, LAVARONE and<br />
LUSERNA are three distinct, but<br />
historically united communities.<br />
Luserna is the living testimony<br />
of the German-Cimbra colonisa-<br />
tion, where the ancient Cimbra<br />
language is still spoken.<br />
The ALTOPIANO DI PINÉ, at an altitude<br />
of around 1000 metres,<br />
extends alongside the Valle dei<br />
Mocheni and the Valle di Cembra<br />
and with the latter forms one<br />
tourist district.<br />
With the Serraia, Piazze and<br />
Buse lakes, it is a plateau full<br />
of natural attractions. BASELGA DI<br />
PINÉ, the tourist and economic<br />
centre of the area, overlooks<br />
Lake Serraia. At an altitude of<br />
about 700 metres on the right of<br />
the river Avisio, CEMBRA, the main<br />
locality, commands a terraced<br />
amphitheatre covered with vineyards.<br />
CIVEZZANO and FORNACE,<br />
lying on the gentle slopes of the<br />
Calisio mountain, offer a scientific-educational<br />
itinerary that is<br />
unique of its kind: the Argentario<br />
Ecomuseum that embraces the<br />
centuries-old history of one of<br />
the oldest and most important<br />
mining activities in Europe.<br />
Quite different is the ALTOPIANO<br />
DELLA PAGANELLA, which extends<br />
at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites<br />
and is part of the Adamello<br />
Brenta Nature Park. Among<br />
its centres the tourist resort of<br />
MOLVENO is popular for its dual<br />
attraction of spectacular Brenta<br />
peaks and enchanting lake. The<br />
environment changes radically<br />
in ANDALO and FAI, famed with<br />
Cavedago and Spormaggiore<br />
for their sincere, warm and cordial<br />
hospitality, the essence of a<br />
mountain and farm culture still<br />
alive today. In Fai you can visit<br />
the archaeological excavations<br />
that have brought to light the<br />
remains of a Rhaetian village.<br />
The three sunny plateaus of<br />
Banale, Bleggio and Lomaso,<br />
around the TERME DI COMANO,<br />
complete the scene.<br />
